Safety First
Pool Safety
Protecting families with proven safety barrier systems.
Pool safety is non-negotiable. Prestige partners with industry-leading safety product manufacturers to provide pool covers, safety nets, and fencing systems that meet or exceed ASTM safety standards. Every safety installation is custom-fitted to your pool and professionally installed by our certified team.
Why Pool Safety Matters
Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death for children under five in Texas — and the vast majority of incidents happen in residential pools when barriers fail or are bypassed. A properly designed, installed, and maintained safety system dramatically reduces risk and gives parents genuine peace of mind, not just compliance paperwork.
Texas law requires all new residential swimming pools to be equipped with at least one approved safety barrier: a fence with a self-closing, self-latching gate, an ASTM-certified safety cover, or an approved combination of measures. Many municipalities in the DFW area, including Frisco, Prosper, and McKinney, add requirements on top of the state baseline. Prestige's team reviews your specific yard, pool layout, and local code requirements to make sure every installation meets or exceeds what's required.
The most effective safety programs are layered. No single product eliminates all risk — but combining a primary barrier (fence or cover) with secondary measures like nets and door alarms creates multiple points of intervention. We'll help you design a safety system that actually fits how you use your backyard, not one that gets removed because it's inconvenient.
Safety Options
Types of Pool Safety Systems
Prestige installs and recommends several layers of pool safety protection — from permanent barriers to removable systems designed for active families.
Safety Nets
Custom-fitted mesh nets anchored to the pool deck that span the entire water surface. Remove in seconds for swim time, redeploy in minutes afterward. Used by lifeguard organizations and recommended by the American Red Cross.
Safety Covers
Automatic and manual covers that stretch across the pool, support the weight of a child or adult, and lock in place. Automatic covers open and close at the touch of a button — the highest-convenience safety option available.
Safety Fences
Removable mesh fencing with self-closing, self-latching gates that completely encloses the pool area. Meets ASTM and most local code requirements. Nearly transparent design preserves your backyard sightlines while creating a real physical barrier.
Alarms & Sensors
Door alarms on any entry point with pool access, gate alarms on fence gates, and surface wave sensors that detect movement in the water. Best used as a secondary layer alongside a physical barrier — not a replacement for one.
Texas Pool Safety Requirements
Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 757 requires that all new residential swimming pools be equipped with at least one of the following approved safety barriers before the pool is placed into service:
Pool Barrier Fence
At least 48 inches high, with a self-closing, self-latching gate. The latch must be located at least 54 inches above the ground or on the pool side of the gate.
Approved Safety Cover
Must meet ASTM F1346 standards for safety performance — capable of supporting the weight of a 200-lb adult and preventing a child from falling through.
Door/Exit Alarms
All doors providing direct access to the pool must have a powered alarm that triggers when the door is opened. Must be audible throughout the home.
Power Safety Cover
A motorized cover that meets ASTM standards may serve as the single required safety barrier. Most automatic covers qualify when professionally installed.
Local requirements may be stricter. Cities including Frisco, Prosper, Celina, McKinney, and Allen often have additional requirements beyond the state baseline. Prestige pulls all required permits and ensures every installation meets local code — you don't have to research it yourself.
